Inspiration  Primo Podcasts for Makers & Creative Entrepreneurs

Hello!  Today I am excited to share with you my favorites podcasts!  Some are for entrepreneurs, some for creatives, and some just for fun!  No matter how frustrating my day might be, when I listen to these awesome podcasts I feel productive and uplifted.

My two favorite shows that provide me insight and inspiration every week are After the Jump, by Grace Bonney, the amazing DIY Design Blogger, and The Lively Show, by Jess Lively, and creator of Living Life With Intention Online.  But there are so many….

The Lively Show by Jess Lively.  This year I discovered Jess LIvely and her wonderful interviews with (mostly) women who talk about the pursuit of joy and fulfillment in life, work, love, and family.  Jess talks about vulnerable topics that so many women deal with, related to self image, productivity, morale and finding lifetime happiness.

I recently also took Jess Lively’s fantastic course, Life With Intention, which is an online course that helps to identify what our values are, and build a life that is intentional and value-driven, for joy, balance and fulfillment.  It is a great course, and you can repeat as many times as you like!

The Art of Simple by Tsh Oxenreider.   A great podcast of conversations about “everything else”, including food, travel, family, working at home, music and living simply.  I really like this when I am taking a break from thinking so hard!  (more…)

Tried & True  Kids in the Kitchen: Authentic Soft Pretzels

Who knew “artisinal” soft pretzels were trending? I had an incredible soft pretzel at the famous beer bar, the Ginger Man, in NYC recently, and learned that much like bread pudding and cup cakes, soft pretzels are HOT!  Being of German descent, and always looking for kiddo activities, my boys and could not resist this snow day challenge! Tried & True  DIY: Holiday Decorating With Kiddos

My boys and I love to kick off the holiday season by decorating with greens. This is the perfect Thanksgiving day activity for the kids, while the grown-ups are busy cooking!wreath-diy

The kids really enjoyed having their own pine swag to decorate using the pine cones we collected on a hike.  We rolled the pine cones in glue and then in different colored glitters, which is always fun, and always messy (do this outside if you can!).  Then using wire, we attached them to the swag, along with some colorful balls and glittery birds.  I had several kinds of ribbon to choose from, pipe cleaners, and variety of inexpensive colorful ornaments so they could really make them special.  Everyone went home with their own door decoration, and it was a great start to the season! Tried & True  DIY: Egg Carton Critters

This is a fun DIY project that is perfect for a rainy day activity with kiddos.  I am not sure who had more fun when my boys and I made these woodland critters—it is usually me!  I swear, the more you stare at an egg carton, the more things you begin to see.  You will see faces in the egg cups—every way you turn them—more faces!  Do you think I sound a little crazy?  Try it!

My boys and I saw owls and foxes in our egg cartons, which felt very fallish, so that is what we decided to make.  If you have ever made a flower wreath from egg cartons, you know that they are really fun and easy to work with–and pretty much everything looks great when painted! (more…)

Tried & True  Finders Keepers: 1920′s Mirror Ball

I have very good luck finding things (or maybe it is just an eye for trouble), and I love nothing more than resurrecting something special that has been discarded.  I was jogging with my dog Piper when I discovered this beautiful “disco ball” in the trash of a synagog in my town.  It was very broken and had lost many of its mirrors, but obviously a treasure!Art-Deco-Mirror-Ball-in-studio

CMH Studio  Daisies for Daisy Mural

I had so much fun working on this flowery nursery mural for a baby girl named Daisy!  I love the “daisies for Daisy” theme–so cute and personal.three-photos-of-daisies

Daisy’s mom did an amazing job designing her nursery, with this cheerful furniture from Grow With Me Kids Furniture, and the great color combination.  The walls are painted with “Jack Frost” by Benjamin Moore, providing a light, airy background for the flowers.  I especially love the way the white daises look against the blue–soft and fresh! Tried & True  Make Her a Mother’s Day Wreath!

boys-with-wreathsI found this wonderful wreath project using egg cartons on Homemade Serenity and had to try it with my two boys.  It is fun and easy—just cut, paint, glue—and of course a great way to recycle!  The only thing I bought was two styrofoam wreath rings and some green gardening tape to cover them with, and the rest we had in our craft bin.  (more…)
